Thoreau Leave No Trace Trail |
The “Thoreau Leave No Trace Trail” is a 10-mile trail in
Concord, MA, created in 2017 by the Boy Scouts of America, The Thoreau
Society, and others to follow sites significant to Henry David Thoreau’s
life. It can be completed by anyone, not just scouts, and
includes a fold-out guide with a map to 25 important locations. While
Thoreau himself was an early influence on the Leave No Trace philosophy, this specific trail is a modern tribute to his work and local environment.

Minutemen’s Pursuit Trail
The Minutemen’s Pursuit Trail is the Concord Scout House’s most
challenging trail. At 15 miles it covers the entire actual route that
the Minutemen pursued the British soldiers from Meriam’s Corner in
Concord to Prospect Hill in Somerville.
Minute Man National Historical Park
Minute Man National Historical Park is a historic site located in Massachusetts, spanning the towns of Lexington, Lincoln, and Concord. It preserves and commemorates the opening battles of the American Revolutionary War, which took place on April 19, 1775, marking the beginning of the struggle for American independence. The park follows the route of the famous Battle Road,
where colonial militia—known as “Minutemen” for their readiness to
fight at a minute’s notice—clashed with British troops marching from
Boston to Concord. Visitors can explore key landmarks such as the North Bridge,
where the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired, as well as restored
colonial homes, visitor centers with exhibits, and scenic trails that
bring history to life. The park offers a powerful glimpse into the
courage and determination that shaped the nation’s founding.
