#WaterwaysChronicles: Sunset in Jekyll Island, Georgia, USA.
Our sailing adventures on our sailboat, "Capenaum," included a memorable trip to Jekyll Island, Georgia. My wife and I left the marina, ready to explore the intracoastal waterway and head out to the Atlantic Ocean. We had been warned about the tides, currents, and boat traffic leading to the sea. As we left the dock and prepared to raise our sails, we got stuck in the mud outside the canal. The current had pushed us past the buoy as the low tide started. We waited for hours, watching other boats go by and wave at us. Over the radio, we were told to wait for high tide, which tested our patience.
Even though we were stuck, we felt thankful to God for the chance to relax, enjoy the views, and see one of the most beautiful sunsets we’d ever experienced. The sky lit up with colors as the sun set, leaving us amazed.
When the tide finally came in, we were able to move and return to the marina. Our small sailboat, docked by the canal, rocked with the waves from passing boats during the night. We barely slept in our tiny cabin, but the sight of the stars made it worth it.
The next morning, we left the marina, carefully watching the depth as we moved through the canal. We finally sailed out to sea and enjoyed every moment. We have many great memories from our years of sailing, but this trip taught us an important lesson: in times of difficulty and uncertainty, God’s light is always with us. We are thankful for every sunrise and sunset and wish many blessings to you all.
