Valencia is the last name of my mother. Her ancestors were Semah de Valencia. She always shared the stories of our ancestors in Spain, Netherlands, Curacao, and Venezuela. After visiting the Jewish Quarters in Sagunto, Valencia in 2014, we reconnected with our Sephardic origins to find and track them. These are our #SefaradChronicles.

We crossed this small arch to enter our first jewish quarters in #Spain ‘La Juderia de Sagunto’ was the beginning our our quest for #sephardicroots and our family #semahdevalencia. We walked up the Carrer del Castell until the Portalet de la Sang, the only preserved medieval arc. This is the description found in ‘La Jueria de Sagunt (segles II-XV)’ by Manuel Rivera Gomez
" it is the only medieval portal that is preserved from the concesió of 1321. is a half-point arch that had no door or has lost the golfs why the leaves of the door. The Portalet of the blood starts the street of the same name and ends in the mouth of the street of ethiopiques where it placed the portal of the marzen encarad north. This bow and the rest of the portals are ares gótics recovered in the houses that were placed in the sixties.
