Open top bus tour around Malta

 

Double-decker bus tour from Valletta around Malta with MSC Excursions aboard MSC Grandiosa. It was the only way to visit the island due to covid restrictions. Dec 2021. #abuelosmochileros_valletta

 

 

Short but intense, this excursion is a unique opportunity to discover the beauty of Malta from the comfort of an open double-decker bus.

 

We left the ship, met our guide and hop on our bus to begin our exploration of the island starting with a drive towards Vittoriosa, one of the Three cities situated across the harbour.  

 

 

Vittoriosa, one of the Three cities situated across the harbour.  The city boasts a beautiful yacht  marina enhancing its many palaces built by the Knights of Malta.

 

The itinerary continued passing the blue grotto area and various villages en route to Mdina, located in the heart of the island, also known as the ¨silent city¨. We drove around the perimeter of the city with its historical buildings, at the foot of this medieval town, a chance to take pictures as the bus drives by.

 

 

Next came Mosta. Our bus passed by Mosta dome, the third largest unsupported dome in Europe and recently bestowed with the title of basilica.

Taking the north east route, we drove through the cosat road onto St. Julian´s and Sliema, before moving to Valletta passing its bastions. We admired the fortifications of the capital city of the island built on a peninsula by the Knights of Malta in the 1500´s.
